We use it for a tv in our garage which doubles as our rec-room. Our tv has a cover cloth type cover that slides down from the top. And with the hdmi cable, it comes out the back. Being that, the cover wouldn't go down all the way. So with your adapter, the cable goes down and our cover fits the tv perfectly.
